SWAM for JAPAN • 4.20.11

"It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can only do little - do what you can."  ~Sydney Smith

Well, these little (as young as 5 years old) and not-so-little swimmers did something.  More than 40 swimmers swam to raise relief funds for the tsunami/earthquake victims of Japan.  We are SO PROUD of each of them.  Thank you, swimmers, coaches, parents, for all the hard work.  We are still taking pledges as each swimmer collect them until the end of the month.  Thank you to all of you who donated already to this worthy cause!

Here are images...in black and white.  I wanted to capture their "souls."

Our unconventional 33-yard pool
Getting ready for the 'thon...
These boys are ready to rock & roll...
Parents & family members ready to help tally their laps.
 And they're OFF!
For the next half an hour, all you can hear was the splashing of the water.  It was surreal.
Five minutes have passed and the youngest batch of the swimmers had swam this many laps already!
MOMS rock this place.  DADS, too!  They're the swimmers' #1 supporters.
30 minutes later! They DID it! WOOHOO!!!
 GREAT JOB, swimmers!
Families are a big part of this effort.  THANK YOU for being there.
Swimmers were anxious to know how many laps they swam.  Some did as much as 70+ laps.

And you'll have the opportunity to "do something" by sponsoring the Manta Rays as they Swim For Japan.

In an effort to contribute to the relief efforts to raise funds for the victims of the disastrous tsunami-earthquake in Japan, our swim team, SFRP ROSSI Manta Rays, will be holding a SWIM-A-THON on Wednesday, April 20th, 2011, 5:30pm at Rossi Pool. Each swimmer will be swimming for 30 minutes for about 30+ laps on a 30+ yard lane. Your much needed donations will go directly to the American Red Cross. Please make all checks payable to the American Red Cross (for tax purposes) and send/deliver to Rossi Team who will send them to the American Red Cross on your behalf. Your canceled check will be your receipt.

Many Thanks! DOMO!
