Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty, and persistence. ~Colin Powell

Congratulations, Rossi Manta Rays! Your hard work is paying off. Keep it up. Thank you, Peter (Mr. Tran) for taking these awesome shots!

And thank you, coaches, for relentlessly working with our team.

14 & Under Junior Olympics • Morgan Hill, CA | December 6-8, 2013

What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you BECOME by achieving your goals. ~Zig Ziglar

Making it to the JOs is no easy feat. It's a big goal to achieve. But it is what you become when you achieve that goal. Did that make you a better person? Did it make you desire to work harder in school, at the pool, at home? Did it make you appreciate the people who help you reach your goals? How about being a better team member, a better friend, a better brother/sister/son/daughter?

Just things to ponder on...as the year ends and as you think about your goals for 2014.

Thank you, Peter, for taking these amazing shots! I miss going and photodocking at the meets.
We'll be there in January! Happy New Year!

Thirdly, I'm sure you've met our newest Rossi Swim officer. If not, please come meet Irene Michaud. The Board and Coaching Staff have unanimously voted to bring her in as co-vice president with Tina Vu. She and her family (hubby, Brian, and their girls, Kaitlyn and Emily) have been actively involved with the team, and with her new role she's taken on even more responsibilities helping make our team one of the best in town! Please take time to thank our officers and coaches for the time they put into our kids and team!

Lastly but not least, few reminders (for myself, too!):
- Rossi monthly dues (due 12/10th) payable to Rossi Swim Team
- Pacific Swimming renewal fee (due 12/10th) payable to Pacific Swimming
- December 22nd party (bowling and Moonstar)

I think that's it for now. Here's to an awesome December.

VU for TEAM THEO!

Congratulations to Jordan Vu for a special recognition at the Napa Meet

At the Napa Meet this weekend, Jordan Vu and Megan Minor with Napa Valley Swim Team (left) were recipients of a special recognition by the Coaches of North Bay Aquatics and the Napa Valley Swim Team. They presented the winners of the 200 Back for Women and Men with Team Theo t-shirts and recorded messages from them to give to Theo.

Attached is a flyer about what happened to Theo St. Francis. At the meet, they were selling t-shirts to benefit him too. Attached is a flyer for our families to look into should anyone be interested in contributing to meet his needs.

This is such a sad thing to hear about and we strongly encourage Rossi Swim Team to help Theo and his family out. The good news is that he has regained mobility in his arms and is able to push himself around on a wheelchair now. Hopefully it is just a matter of time before he will be able to walk. Go Team Theo!

Hanging out with Olympians

I didn’t set out to beat the world; I just set out to do my absolute best.
–Al Oerter, gold medalist in the disc throw

Jared Vu's first college meet: UOP at Cal Berkeley
Some Olympians that used to swim for Cal were in the warm-up pool. They took the time to have photos taken with the kids, and then swam some exhibition swims. How do you like that! Alan, who now attends UCB, met us there.

Jared took a pic with Nathan Adrian and the UOP team. Alan, Brooke and Jordan took pictures with Natalie Coughlin, Anthony Ervin and Nathan Adrian. They missed Tom Shields. All in all it was a lot of fun!

ROSSI SPOTLIGHT: “PRESIDENT ED WOO”

Hi Everyone,

After such a wonderful and successful Labor Day meet where our team enjoyed food, sunshine, swimming and great success with a thrilling 2nd place win, I wanted to put everyone's mind at ease. With Ed's announcement that it was his last meet since Emily is leaving for UC Davis, we did not want everyone to worry about the leadership of the team.
Ed Woo, or “Uncle Ed” as he is affectionately known to all our swimmers, has kindly agreed to stay on as President of our team for at least another year. Maybe indefinitely? I say kindly since he enjoys telling everyone he is finally done. We all know too well he'd be sooo bored with nothing to do if he left us.

Ed joined the Rossi team when Emily was only 7 and has been with the team for 11 long years, 8 of them as President. It has been a great experience working side by side with Ed and he has made great contributions to our team. Be it encouragement, talking with the swimmers, handling questions and situations for and on behalf of our coaching staff to the extra little things, like otter pops and treats. He has always extended himself above and beyond to all Rossi members. Ed has sent out emails, given rides whenever needed, helped order t-shirts, sweatshirts and swim caps, ran Costco trips for Zone 3 hospitality and set up our 49er relays at Morgan Hill. What doesn't he do? He has been very generous not only with his time and energy but also with his wit, humor and sage advice!

Ed, we appreciate all that you do and will continue to do for our team!

Congratulations to our coaching staff, too! Our team roster is now the largest it's ever been with about 100+ swimmers. From what we hear our team reputation has gotten even better and stronger. On another happy note, to help out with all the extras, the Board and Coaching Staff have unanimously voted to bring on Irene Michaud, as Co-Vice President and Irene has, thankfully, agreed to help out. Irene is mom to our swimmers Kaitlyn and Emily and wife to Brian (need to give Brian some credit here.) We think she'll be a great addition to the Board. She is a real team player. Please join us in congratulating Irene!

Cheers to all!
